Pryor Mountains May 28, 13

It was our last day on the range so Ginger and I spent it with Cloud and his band.

I bet he thinks he's king of the hill.

Duke’s band was in the area and his colt Navajo decided to kick up his heals. The colt is missing his ear tips most likely from frostbite, but the kid has spunk. He and Encore kept on looking at each other and I think if they would have been allowed to meet each other they could have had a lot of fun.

Can you tell he's having fun?

He stops to look at Encore. You can really see the missing ear tips.

Encore looks back. Young love, isn't it cute?

When Jackson’s band moves it Cloud tries unsuccessfully to get Jackson to fight. After a brief spar, Jackson chooses instead to snake his band away, although it didn’t stop Mato Ska from greeting Jackson’s yearling colt Moorcroft.

The characteristic greeting over the stud pile.

Unfortunatly they were unable to play before being escorted home.

Unfortunately they were unable to play before being escorted home.

After that we headed home. As much as I enjoy the horse range it’s nice being “home” in Colorado.

So does this mean I can go to bed now? 😀 Thanks so much for sharing your experience. You really got some great photos. I’m not sure, but I think Navajo is my favorite foal so far. Of course, Encore is right up there, too. Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Was jewel, Ketchikan, and Jacinta pregnant and what happened to demure’s foal

    • None looked pregnant. We never saw Demure with a foal so I can’t tell you how Demure’s foal passed on. It’s sad, but I would rather use natural selection to manage the horses than removals.
