After spending a day mostly outside the Peaks due to rain, we went back eager to see the horses. The roads were still damp, so we drove as far as we could and began hiking.
We could see a couple of horses in the distance down the two-track with water, and we were determined to hike to them. When we reached them, it was Kenya and his mare, so we continued hiking. In the distance we thought we saw a horse, but we continued on. We figured it was just a sage horse, and we were eager to see if there would be more horses.
We walked until we could see more water in the distance, but decided to turn around. We wanted to get back in case of bad weather and we wanted to see if the sage horse had moved.
As we neared the area where we first thought we saw horses, we got our answer. In the distance, we saw a pinto horse, and we decided to continue hiking out to them. It took us longer than we expected, but we finally found a small group of bachelors.
The bachelors were made up of a grey, 2 black pintos, and a sorrel. The grey was off on one side, but the rest of the boys were grazing together. It was fun to finally see more horses, but we quickly decided to move on.
